-
- It appears to be a non-flashable Rockwell datapump.. The controller
- firmware is flashable, but it doesn't do you any good in this case..
-
- Like I keep saying- Microcom is garbage.. The hardware is gutless-
- it likes to retrain at the slightest bit of noise (conditions that
- other modems don't bat an eye (slight pun for communications people) at),
- it only supports class 1 fax (it might do higher, but it's not documented,
- which brings me to the next point), the documentation sucks.. Most of
- the important settings aren't documented (most of the T-registers aren't
- listed, the FAX AT commands aren't listed, the commands for things like
- link conditions/status and CID aren't listed (but by the strings in the
- firmware, appear to be supported)..
-
- The only reasons to get a Microcom are: 1) if you require the parallel port
- interface (which actually works reasonably well, but only under Windows..
- The ZyXEL modems also have parallel ports and are a better modem to boot)
- and 2) if it's provided at no cost to you..
